Korean Actor Lee Sun-kyun Appears Before Police for Second Drug Probe

INCHEON — Lee Sun-kyun, a well-known actor recognized for his role in the 2020 Oscar-winning film "Parasite," appeared for the second time at a police station on Saturday for questioning related to allegations of drug use.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, Lee arrived at the Nonhyeon police station accompanied by his legal counsel to partake in the inquiry conducted by the narcotic crimes investigation unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, as per the agency's update.

The 48-year-old actor faces allegations of consuming marijuana and other illegal substances at the residence of a hostess employed at a premium bar in Seoul's Gangnam district several times since the onset of the year.

In his initial police interview, Lee was subjected to an instant drug screening, the results of which were negative. Subsequently, police forwarded hair samples to the National Forensic Service for comprehensive testing, which also returned negative results.

Lee, facing the press on his arrival, expressed his regret over the public worry sparked by these accusations. On being questioned by reporters regarding his alleged drug use, Lee stated he would fully cooperate with the day's investigative procedures and intended to discuss all matters candidly.
