KT and Nokia Collaborate on 6G Technology Development

Seoul, South Korea - KT Corp., a leading South Korean telecommunications operator, announced its collaboration with Finnish telecom giant Nokia on Wednesday, focusing on research for the next-generation 6G communications network. The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding that includes joint development efforts in open radio access network and ultra-wideband wireless technologies, aiming to position both companies as leaders in the future 6G market, which is anticipated to emerge around 2030.

According to Yonhap News Agency, head of KT's network research center, the collaboration with Nokia is set to enhance KT's capabilities in developing cutting-edge telecommunications technologies linked to next-generation cloud and artificial intelligence systems. This strategic alliance underscores both companies' commitment to advancing the telecommunications landscape globally, particularly as the industry begins to set the groundwork for the 6G era.
