North korea: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has sent a message of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping following a deadly gas explosion at a coal mine in northern China's Shanxi Province. The incident occurred on Friday and resulted in the death of 82 people, injuring 182 others, with two individuals still unaccounted for. This tragedy is being marked as the worst mining disaster in China in nearly two decades.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Jong-un conveyed his sympathy through a message dated Sunday. He expressed deep condolences to President Xi, the Chinese Communist Party, the government, and the Chinese people, as well as to the families who lost loved ones in the explosion. The message was reported by North Korea's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
In his message, Kim Jong-un also expressed his hopes for a swift recovery from the disaster's aftermath and wished for the bereaved families to overcome their sorrow and regain stability in their lives.
