President Yoon Commits to Making Busan World Expo a Cultural Synergy Platform

PARIS - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has pledged to transform the 2030 World Expo into a global platform for showcasing and synergizing diverse cultures, skills, and beliefs, with Busan as the potential host city.

According to Yonhap News Agency, During a dinner in Paris with diplomatic corps members and delegates of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), President Yoon emphasized his vision for the 2030 World Expo. The decision on the host city for this prestigious event will be made in a vote at the BIE general assembly in Paris on Tuesday. South Korea's southeastern city of Busan is in the running against Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Rome, Italy.

Yoon highlighted the increasing global interest in and understanding of South Korean culture, including its cuisine, K-pop, and films. He presented a vision where the 2030 World Expo, potentially hosted in Busan, would serve as a dynamic platform to further promote and create synergies between various cultures, skills, and beliefs, leveraging the cultural appeal of South Korea and Busan.

In his interaction with the diplomatic corps and BIE delegates, President Yoon reiterated South Korea's strong commitment to hosting the event and bringing this vision to fruition. He particularly emphasized Busan's attributes as a free, open, and innovative city, advocating for its selection as the host of the 2030 World Expo.
