Presidents of South Korea and China Exchange Greetings at APEC Summit

SAN FRANCISCO - At the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Thursday, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged greetings, signaling ongoing diplomatic engagement. The two leaders, captured in a video shaking hands and conversing briefly before the APEC Informal Dialogue at the Moscone Center, reflected a cordial relationship.

According to Yonhap News Agency, they expressed mutual pleasure at meeting again nearly a year after their previous summit on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali. Yoon extended well-wishes for Xi's success at APEC, with Xi responding positively and expressing hope for continued cooperation between South Korea and China. Yoon also thanked Xi for the hospitality shown to South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo during his visit to China for the Hangzhou Asian Games. The possibility of a separate bilateral meeting between Yoon and Xi, which would be their second since Indonesia last November, remains a topic of interest.
