Seoul Welcomes Second Seventeen-Themed Forest at Nanji Han River Park

SEOUL — In an environmental tribute to the K-pop boy group Seventeen, a second forest bearing the group's name has been established at Nanji Han River Park in Seoul, as announced by Melon, a South Korean music streaming service, on Tuesday. This initiative forms part of an eco-friendly project by Melon, which has also previously facilitated the creation of the first Seventeen forest, two forests dedicated to BTS, and another named after Lim Young-woong.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this project allows subscribers to contribute to environmental conservation efforts by selecting their favorite artist on the project's homepage, where up to 2 percent of their monthly payment is allocated as a donation towards the creation of these forests. Once the donation pool reaches 20 million won (approximately US$14,771), the funds are donated to a local charity tasked with creating a forest in Seoul named after the chosen artist. The latest addition, Seventeen Forest No. 2, features a collection of three flowering cherry trees, 300 grandifloras, and 220 privets, enhancing the greenery and biodiversity of the city.
