Son Myung-soon, Widow of Former President Kim Young-sam, Dies at 95

SEOUL — Son Myung-soon, the widow of former President Kim Young-sam, passed away on Thursday at the age of 95.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Son died of a chronic ailment while receiving treatment at Seoul National University Hospital. Married to Kim in 1951, she played a supportive role alongside her husband, who served as South Korea's 14th president from 1993 to 1998. Kim Young-sam is remembered for his significant contribution to South Korea's pro-democracy movement and for guiding the country through the 1997-98 Asian financial crisis. Son's passing marks the end of a significant chapter in South Korean political history, as she leaves behind a legacy intertwined with the nation's democratic transition.
