SEOUL — Vice foreign ministers from South Korea and China are set to engage in their first strategic discussions in over two years, aiming to enhance cooperation on a range of regional and global issues, as confirmed by Seoul's foreign ministry.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting between South Korea's First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun and his Chinese counterpart, Ma Zhaoxu, will take place in Seoul on Wednesday. This marks the 10th such dialogue, with the previous session conducted via video in December 2021. The upcoming talks will address various topics including peace initiatives on the Korean Peninsula, the current regional and global security landscapes, and the strengthening of bilateral relationships. This renewed dialogue follows recent developments that saw military cooperation increase between North Korea and Russia, sparking concerns across neighboring states and beyond.
