U.S. Ambassador Affirms Strong Bipartisan Support for South Korea-U.S. Alliance

SEOUL — U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, Philip Goldberg, has asserted that the South Korea-U.S. alliance enjoys "tremendous bipartisan support" in the United States, which will persist irrespective of the upcoming U.S. presidential election results.

According to Yonhap News Agency, During a forum at the National Assembly, hosted by the South Korean foreign ministry and Rep. Kim Gunn, Ambassador Goldberg emphasized the deep-rooted support for the alliance within both major U.S. political parties. His comments come in the context of queries regarding the implications of former U.S. President Donald Trump's potential re-election. Additionally, Goldberg expressed concerns about the strengthening military relationship between North Korea and Russia, which could pose new challenges for the alliance. He highlighted the necessity for continued international collaboration, particularly with China, to address North Korea's nuclear ambitions and to ensure compliance with existing sanctions.
