South Korea and U.S. Discuss Response to China’s Solar Panel Overcapacity

WASHINGTON: Senior diplomats from South Korea and the United States have agreed on the necessity for a coordinated approach to address the global implications of China's solar panel overcapacity. During the 10th Energy Security Dialogue in Houston, Texas, South Korea's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, Kim Hee-sang, and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Geoffrey Pyatt, discussed strategies for dealing with the issue.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the discussions focused on controlling imports of subsidized Chinese solar products and enhancing technological competitiveness in response to China's pricing strategies. The talks also covered broader topics of decarbonization, clean energy collaboration, and securing diversified critical mineral supply chains.
