SEOUL – The South Korean government extended its condolences following a devastating shooting at a concert venue in Moscow, where more than 140 individuals were killed.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the nation expressed its sympathy to the victims and their families of the Friday attack and stated solidarity with the people of Russia during this time of mourning. The ministry also conveyed hopes for a prompt investigation that will lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the incident, which has resulted in at least 143 fatalities, with the death toll anticipated to rise.
In a related development, the Korean Embassy in Russia reported that, thus far, there have been no Korean nationals identified among the casualties of the attack. The embassy is actively gathering information through local media and Korean community groups to ascertain if any Korean citizens were impacted.
Additionally, the embassy is keeping a vigilant eye on developments regarding Korean individuals and has issued a safety advisory to the Korean community in Russia, urging them to exercise caution in the aftermath of the tragedy.
An estimated 3,600 Koreans reside in Russia, according to data from last year.
