South Korea Nears Completion of Cattle Vaccination Against Lumpy Skin Disease

Seoul - The South Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on Friday that it is nearing the completion of nationwide cattle vaccination against lumpy skin disease (LSD). As of now, 99.9 percent of the country's 4.05 million cattle have been inoculated. The intensive vaccination campaign was initiated following the first-ever LSD case reported in South Korea on October 20.

According to Yonhap news Agency, the vaccination drive is expected to be completed by Friday.

Despite the near completion of the vaccination campaign, authorities plan to remain vigilant as it takes approximately three weeks for cattle to develop antibodies against the disease. Currently, South Korea has confirmed 87 cases of LSD nationwide, including two new cases from the previous day. The Ministry is also conducting an in-depth analysis of three suspected cases. The rapid response to the outbreak and the extensive vaccination effort highlight the government's commitment to protecting the nation's livestock and preventing the spread of the disease.
