South Korea Sees Consumer Prices Rise 2.9% in September Amid Energy Cost Surge

Seoul:South Korea's consumer prices increased by 2.9 percent in September compared to the same month last year, as indicated by recent data. This rise occurred despite a general decline in agricultural goods, with energy costs remaining high.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the latest data from the Ministry of Data and Statistics revealed a slowdown in consumer price growth to 2 percent levels. This marks a decrease from the 3.1 percent year-on-year rise recorded in August.

In detail, diesel prices saw a significant increase of 20 percent, while gasoline prices rose by 11.8 percent in September. This trend reflects South Korea's heavy reliance on imported energy sources.
