South Korea to Address North Korean Human Rights at U.N. Session

SEOUL, South Korea — The South Korean government announced that Second Vice Foreign Minister Kang In-sun will participate in the forthcoming session of the U.N. Human Rights Council next week, focusing on the human rights issues in North Korea. During the session in Geneva, Kang is expected to deliver a keynote speech highlighting South Korea's dedication to promoting international human rights and advocating for global support and cooperation in addressing North Korea's human rights conditions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this year marks the decade anniversary of the 2014 release of a landmark report by the U.N. Commission of Inquiry on human rights abuses in North Korea. In addition to her U.N. session appearance, Kang is slated to speak at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva and meet with senior officials from the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights and the High Commissioner for Refugees.
