U.S. Envoy to Affirm Security Commitments and Dialogue Openness at DMZ

Seoul - During an upcoming visit to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) next week, the United States' top envoy to the U.N., Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, will underscore the steadfast security alliance with South Korea and express readiness for dialogue with North Korea.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield's trip is part of her broader tour of East Asia that includes stops in Japan and South Korea. The official emphasized that the visit to the DMZ aims to reaffirm the "ironclad" nature of U.S. commitments to its allies and to signal an openness for "unconditional" dialogue with North Korea, despite previous rebuffs from Pyongyang. During her stay, the Ambassador will also meet with North Korean defectors and discuss regional security concerns with South Korean leaders.
