Veteran Actor Nam Il-woo Passes Away at 86


SEOUL — Renowned South Korean actor Nam Il-woo, known for his roles in “Along with the Gods” and “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance,” passed away on Sunday at the age of 86. The news was confirmed by an official from the agency representing his wife, Kim Yong-rim, another esteemed figure in the acting community.



According to Yonhap News Agency, marking the end of a prolific career that spanned over six decades. Starting as a voice actor for KBS in 1958, Nam transitioned to television acting with the same broadcaster in 1964, eventually becoming a staple in numerous beloved TV series. His performances in “War of Money” and “Rustic Period” were particularly acclaimed, showcasing his versatility and depth as an actor.



Beyond television, Nam Il-woo made significant contributions to the film industry, leaving a lasting impact with his distinctive roles. His legacy continues through his family, with his wife, Kim Yong-rim, his two children, and his son Nam Seong-jin, who has followed in his father’s footsteps into acting and is married to actress Kim Ji-young.
