Erick Fedde, KBO MVP, Contemplates Future Amid MLB Interests

SEOUL - Following a remarkable first season in South Korea's Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), Erick Fedde, an American right-handed pitcher and recent MVP, faces a future filled with uncertainties amidst interest from Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. Fedde, who plays for the NC Dinos, achieved an unprecedented feat in KBO history by winning the Triple Crown in 2023, leading the league with 20 wins, 209 strikeouts, and a 2.00 ERA. His performance clinched him the MVP award with a significant majority, receiving 102 out of 111 media votes.

According to Yonhap News Agency, formerly of the Washington Nationals (2017-2022), has been drawing attention from MLB clubs since early November. Scott Boras, Fedde's agent, has touted him as "the most popular free agent" in MLB. Although Boras is known for amplifying interest in his clients, Fedde's record-breaking season in the KBO has set him apart, and a return to MLB wouldn't be surprising, given previous instances of KBO pitchers securing MLB contracts.

Currently, Fedde is uncertain about his next move. "There's so many unknowns. I really haven't had even time to talk much to the Dinos," Fedde commented post-receiving his MVP award. He expressed his gratitude towards the NC Dinos organization and his teammates for their support and remarked that regardless of his future, the NC Dinos would always hold a special place in his heart.
