LG Energy Solution Secures Battery Module Supply Contract in Poland

SEOUL - LG Energy Solution (LGES), a leading South Korean battery manufacturer, announced a significant three-year supply agreement with a Polish battery pack company, starting in 2024.

According to Yonhap News Agency, LGES has signed a deal to supply 200,000 nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery modules to Impact Clean Power Technology (ICPT) over three years, beginning in 2024. ICPT plans to assemble these modules into battery packs for Solaris Bus & Coach, a Polish public transport vehicle manufacturer. The 200,000 NCM batteries are capable of powering approximately 3,000 large electric commercial vehicles. The contract's value was not disclosed by LGES. NCM batteries are noted for their superior cold temperature endurance and higher energy storage capacity, compared to lithium iron phosphate (LFP) versions, which have longer lifespans and better high-heat handling. LGES intends to produce the NCM battery modules at its facility in Wroclaw, Poland, to fulfill the contract with ICPT.
