Overwhelming Majority of Seoul National University Med Professors Commit to Patient Care Amid Doctor Strike

SEOUL: Amid a prolonged walkout by trainee doctors, a recent poll reveals that 97 percent of medical school professors at Seoul National University (SNU) are committed to standing by their patients, although they are advocating for reduced work hours due to excessive demands.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the survey conducted by the emergency committee of the SNU medical professors' council, showed that a significant majority support a decrease in work hours, while a smaller fraction expressed intentions of leaving their positions or resigning. This survey reflects the ongoing challenges and the solidarity of the medical faculty during a time of labor disputes that began with actions on March 25, including submitting resignations and reducing work hours in support of the trainee doctors' walkout.
