SEOUL — In a significant display of support and leadership, President Yoon Suk Yeol visited the Marine Corps Second Division in Gimpo, west of Seoul, during the Lunar New Year holiday, emphasizing the importance of military preparedness in the face of ongoing tensions with North Korea.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the visit aimed to express gratitude towards the troops for their service and to underscore the need for a state of heightened readiness against potential provocations from North Korea. President Yoon inspected the unit's capabilities, including the multiple rocket system Cheonmoo, and delivered a message of swift and decisive action in the event of any aggression from the North.

"If the enemy provokes, you have to sternly and overwhelmingly respond under the principle of 'act first, report later' to completely crush the enemy's will," Yoon advised, highlighting a proactive defense strategy.

In a gesture connecting military service with familial bonds during the holiday period, President Yoon also made surprise appearances in video calls that soldiers were conducting with their parents, bringing a personal touch to his visit.
