South Korea and UK Ministers Advance Science and Technology Collaboration

SEOUL — In a move to bolster bilateral relations, South Korea's Science Minister Lee Jong-ho and his British counterpart, Michelle Donelan, convened virtually on Monday to discuss the enhancement of cooperation in science and technology. This dialogue is part of the ongoing implementation of the Downing Street Accord, established between the leaders of South Korea and the United Kingdom.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the ministers focused on the forthcoming South Korea-Britain digital partnership forum and the initiation of a joint science and technology committee. These endeavors are in line with the comprehensive collaboration framework that spans security, defense, science, technology, economy, and trade. Additionally, the officials reviewed preparations for the second Artificial Intelligence Safety Summit, following the inaugural event hosted by the UK. Minister Lee emphasized the significance of this ministerial dialogue as a foundational step in executing agreed-upon collaborative initiatives in science, technology, and ICT, reinforcing the commitment to stronger connections between Seoul and London.
