South Korean Family Escapes Gaza, Heads Home Via Egypt

CAIRO – A South Korean family, after fleeing the Gaza Strip, embarked on their journey to Seoul from Egypt earlier this week. The family had been residing in the conflict-affected Gaza area for over seven years and managed to exit the territory, reaching safety.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the family, which includes a South Korean woman, her husband—a naturalized citizen of Palestinian origin—and their three children, traversed the Rafah border checkpoint into Egypt on Thursday. This move was part of an evacuation effort from the volatile region of Gaza. After a brief sojourn in Egypt, the family left Cairo International Airport on Sunday evening, local time, set to land in South Korea with a scheduled stopover en route. The family refrained from speaking to the media during their departure.
