South Korean Footballer Hwang Ui-jo’s Sister-in-Law Charged for Exposing Private Videos

SEOUL - In a significant legal development, the sister-in-law of South Korean footballer Hwang Ui-jo was indicted on Friday for allegedly exposing his private videos online. This incident has sparked considerable controversy in the sports community.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Hwang's sister-in-law, who is married to his elder brother, is accused of sharing intimate photos and videos of Hwang on social media platforms. The content, released in June, purportedly showed Hwang in private moments with women. She allegedly posed as a former lover of the footballer and threatened to release more videos. The indictment includes charges of violating the sexual crime punishment law and blackmail. In a related but separate matter, Hwang is also under investigation for alleged illegal filming of a sexual act, a claim he has denied. Following these allegations, the Korea Football Association has temporarily barred Hwang, who plays for Norwich City, from the national team.
