Doosan Group Expands Partnership with IBM for Advanced Digital Solutions

SEOUL — Doosan Group, a major South Korean conglomerate with interests ranging from construction equipment to fuel cell systems, announced on Sunday its plans to deepen its collaboration with IBM, a leader in global technology.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the expanded partnership will focus on enhancing digital solutions across various sectors of its operations. Previously, Doosan has worked with IBM on several fronts, including the implementation of an enterprise resource planning system at its compact equipment manufacturing subsidiary, Doosan Bobcat, and the adoption of operational technology security solutions within the group. The collaboration has also extended to developing an artificial intelligence strategy to further Doosan's digital transformation efforts.

As part of its ongoing commitment to digitalization, Doosan is exploring new technological advancements for its subsidiaries, including plant builder Doosan Enerbility and robotics solutions provider Doosan Robotics, among others. The move towards digital solutions reflects the conglomerate's strategy to leverage technology in improving operational efficiencies and fostering innovation.

Highlighting the significance of the partnership, Doosan Group Vice Chairman Park Ji-won visited IBM's quantum computing research and development center on April 4 (U.S. time) to discuss cooperation in quantum computing technologies. This area of collaboration is particularly noteworthy as quantum computing represents the next frontier in computing technology, promising to revolutionize the way massive amounts of information are processed.

Tech giants such as IBM, Microsoft, and Alphabet's Google are all competitors in the race to develop quantum computers, which are expected to outperform traditional computers in handling complex data computations. Doosan's engagement with IBM in this cutting-edge field underscores the conglomerate's ambition to be at the forefront of technological innovation and digital transformation.
